The items on the field play a very big role aswel as teamplay and positioning/movement. We have different Champions/Characters now, each of them has a unique skill, different movement-styles and different stats which makes the game, especially duels and 2v2's alot more considerable and tactical. Yes, Quake became alot more tactical then it was back then. From my point of view (Oldschool Quake gamer from day one and Q-1), Quake Champions is a worthy and very potential successor to Quake Live.
